Dyslexia Tutoring
If your child is struggling to learn, then the way that they are being taught needs changing, not the child! Many children with literacy difficulties or dyslexia simply learn differently. Over time, this can lead to problems with confidence and self esteem as they become aware of their struggles and feel that they are failing.
How can specialist tutoring help?
As a specialist tutor, I use a structured and multi-sensory approach, where knowledge is carefully revisited and built upon. It is vital that I find out how each child best learns, which tools and techniques work for them and what they enjoy. From there I will create an individual programme of learning, tailored to their particular strengths and needs. This will enable them to engage with their learning and begin to experience the success of feeling like a 'reader' or a 'writer.'
Where do we start?
Specialist tuition will be most effective when it is designed around a detailed profile of your child's learning strengths and needs.
Call me for a free phone consultation to discuss your requirements and your child's needs, so that we can work out how best we can work together.
First Meeting
I need your child to feel relaxed about us working together (on something that they have found challenging, often for a long time). To put them at their ease, it is important to have a first meeting where we can establish a rapport and I can learn all about them. It also gives me a chance to find out how they best work and how they feel about things. This will cost £20.
Specialist tuition
This is usually one to one with your child and can be in my home, in yours, online or even at school. This learning programme will be personalised and I will regularly review their progress and make adjustments to ensure best practice. The sessions usually last 40 minutes and the fee includes planning and preparation of all resources. Follow up games and materials can be provided for the child to do at home to consolidate their learning. I welcome communication with schools and am happy to share aims and objectives with them for a 'joined up' approach. I recommend beginning with a block of 6 lessons, followed by a review of progress. This will be £40 per session, or £30 per online session.
